How to Stay Motivated to Achieve Your Goals
This is about the time people often give up on goals they set at the beginning of the year. Whether you’re working to keep New Years Resolutions or monthly goals you set to keep yourself growing all year round, you need a strategy to support yourself when the determination you began with begins to wane. You set them because you’re here to achieve greatness and you’re worth it, so we’re here to support you.
Take breaks to relax and do nothing – Did you know that there are actual benefits of doing absolutely nothing? When you turn off all distractions, it allows space for your subconscious to expand, which will help boost your creativity. This stillness also allows the brain to integrate and rejuvenate which ultimately reinforces long-term learning and productivity. You come out of your short break restored, refreshed, able to learn and accomplish more!
Schedule time to do what you love – Making time to do what you love can help you ease your stress, lift your mood, and expand your social circle. It has even been shown to help manage chronic pain. Other benefits may include improving your heart health and time well spent will most certainly add joy to your life.
Experience the feeling of when you reach your goal – The daily practice of feeling your dreams as already complete can accelerate your achievement of those ambitions. To experience the goal as achieved now in the present tense will condition your brain to feel the success in your mind as if it was already occurring in the present moment. By opening a few minutes focusing on experiencing this feeling in vivid detail – by imaging hearing the sounds you would hear, seeing the sights you would see and really tapping into the feelings you would feel, your brain will be able to more readily perceive and recognize the resources you will need to achieve your goals!
Move your body – Movement enhances mood, releases endorphins and helps relieve stress. When you move your awareness into your body, it allows you to take a break from your everyday challenges and responsibilities and turn your focus inward. Another benefit of moving is that it helps emotions process through your body. The better you feel, the more motivated you will be to keep the positive feelings going.
Eat healthy when you can – A healthy, well-balanced diet can help you think clearly and feel more alert. It can also improve concentration and attention span and help you feel better than an unbalanced diet.
Cultivate positive sleep routine – Good quality sleep makes it easier for us to manage our emotions, mood, and stress levels. Monitoring your sleep patterns and setting yourself up with positive sleep routine will improve your quality of sleep as well as decrease your risk of developing mental health issues in the future.
Remember, there will always be resistance to achieving your goals, whether from inside or outside. Plan for setbacks, so that you expect the inevitable and are ready to get back up. And one last thing – give yourself credit for every victory great and small. Keep up the good work!
